Spouse Visa requirements
Relationship
If you are both over 18 and one of you has the right to live permanently in the UK, you can apply for a spouse visa. You need to be legally married and you will have to satisfy the Home Office that you are in a genuine relationship.
Finances
You have to have an annual income of £18,600 or more. You can show this in a number of ways, but only in one of the ways set out in the Immigration Rules.
If you get certain benefits because you have a disability or you are a carer you won’t have to show that you get £18,600 per year, but you will still have to show that you have enough to support yourselves.
Accommodation
You have to have accommodation arranged before you apply for your visa. The property must be large enough for you and for everyone else who lives in it without becoming overcrowded.
English language
Before you apply for your visa you have to show that you can speak and understand English at a basic level.
Character and conduct
If you have serious criminal convictions or a poor immigration history you can be refused a visa even if you meet all the other requirements.
